About Us


Education
Dr. Dunning was born in Pennsylvania. His family moved to Long Beach, California in the early 1950's where he grew up.  He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of California, Berkley.  He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, Irvine and then traveled to Cleveland, Ohio to complete a residency in General Surgery at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals.

Practice

Dr. Dunning began practice as a general and vascular surgeon upon returning to California.  Over the next thirty-some years he continued his practice in Wisconsin, Colorado, and then Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.


Areas of Special Interest

While in Sault Ste. Marie. Dr. Dunning began his association with Dr. Kevin Lawson, providing surgical access for specialized spine operations such as lumbar disk replacement.  Although no longer active as a primary general surgeon, Dr. Dunning has continued his interest in spine problems and provides services for the management of chronic pain.



Hobbies
Before beginning his career in medicine, Dr. Dunning was an active musician performing with groups in California to help finance his education.  His love of music has continued, and he is still active, playing keyboards in the worship band of his church.
